Dr Ruth Naughton-Doe

Ruth is an Applied Mental Health Social Care Researcher at the University of York, Family Wellbeing Team. Her research approach is to co-design and co-evaluate interventions that address the social determinants of mental ill health in parenthood. In addition to research expertise, she brings lived and practitioner experience. She has worked in NHS and voluntary sector mental health services.

Her current research projects aim to improve the mental health of under-served perinatal populations including Muslim mothers, young mothers and LGBTQ+ families.

Her NIHR Three Schools Mental Health Fellowship and follow on funding (October 2022- April 26) co-produced solutions to perinatal loneliness. This website showcases the ongoing work.

Ruth's inspiration for this project came from becoming a mother to the greatest little human imaginable, and finding it hard and lonely. In her spare time, Ruth loves adventures in the mountains, running, being outside, reading and writing about mental health.
